Are You Wondering If Soy Is Healthy Or Not? Gain more insight from an esteemed dietician by watching this video.

Even as plant-based eating rapidly dominates food culture today, confusion remains about one major source: soy. While some healthy eaters embrace its inclusion and load their shopping carts up with tofu and tempeh from time to time, other remain wary due to rumors concerning any negative hormonal impact of soy consumption. Registered dietician Tracy Lockwood Beckerman RD addresses soy protein on You Versus Food’s latest episode for clarification purposes.

Beckerman notes that soy provides vegetarians and vegans alike with an important source of plant based protein; noting it contains all nine essential amino acids for optimal nutrition. She further states that adding soy into one’s daily diet could potentially lower bad cholesterol in your body while at the same time possibly aiding weight management by decreasing harmful cholesterol. Despite any claims otherwise about its dangers or links with breast cancer consumption, most reports on it simply are not true, according to her.

Still, when it comes to reaping all of soy’s healthful benefits, healthy eating expert have some rules of thumb they recommend following when it comes to consumption of soy foods. One: two servings are enough per day. (She doesn’t support having multiple tofu scrambles with soy milk lattes in one day paired with snacking on edamame as snacks between breakfast, tempeh “hot dogs”, tempeh sandwich-esque tempeh rolls for lunch and soy burgers for dinner!)

Beckerman offers three additional guidelines when it comes to soy consumption; watch the episode above to gain more knowledge. You’ll certainly thank yourself later!

Here’s some additional healthy eating advice, featuring what foods to include on your plate to reduce inflammation and boost energy.
